Parenting and caring for neurodivergent children and adolescents can be deeply meaningful, rewarding, and enriching. At the same time, many parents and caregivers face unique challenges that can contribute to stress, exhaustion, isolation, advocacy fatigue, and difficulties balancing the competing demands of family, work, relationships, and personal wellbeing.
This programme has been developed to support the wellbeing of parents and caregivers rather than to teach parenting techniques. Drawing on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and the World Health Organization's caregiver wellbeing approach, the programme focuses on helping caregivers develop practical skills for managing stress, responding more flexibly to challenges, and maintaining connection with what matters most during difficult times.
Throughout the programme, participants will explore key themes including psychological flexibility, values-based caregiving, present-moment awareness, acceptance, self-care, and resilience.
